It was another standout week for Northeast Georgia athletics, with multiple programs delivering the kind of performances that demand recognition.
Football – Rabun County Wildcats & Jefferson Dragons
The Wildcats stomped Berrien 35-0 in the second round, getting back to the Quarterfinals after a one-year hiatus. Ty Truelove accounted for three TDs in the final home game for Rabun. Jefferson rolled up a 49-14 win at home against Harlem, reaching the Quarterfinals for a fourth straight year. The Dragons got FOUR touchdowns from Darren Pinkard in the historic win.
Girls Basketball – White County Lady Warriors
White County started 3-0 on the season by winning all the Lady Warriors’ games so far. That includes a 30-point win against North Gwinnett and a 9-point win over #3-ranked Rabun County, followed by a gritty 1-point win over West Forsyth. White County is ranked #7 and is averaging 52.7 points per game, while allowing just 39.3.
Boys Basketball – Jefferson Dragons
The Dragons went 2-0 in their first full week. Clay Owen is a major reason, but it was a full team effort to get a 2-point thriller over Loganville Christian and a 4-point win against Flowery Branch.
