A suspected drug dealer is in jail on drug and weapons charges following a 3-month long investigation by the regional drug task force. GBI Special Agent in Charge Mitchell Posey says 46-year old Robert Bryant was arrested at a home located at 242 Emily Street in Toccoa.
He was arrested during a search of the house by the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office, Stephens County Sheriff’s Office and GA Department of Corrections K-9 Units. Posey says Bryant was carrying a semi-automatic handgun on him at the time of his arrest. A similar firearm belonging to Bryant was found in another house officers searched on Edwards Street.
Posey says law enforcement discovered a small cache of military items such as a Kevlar helmet at the Emily Street residence. Those items were turned over to the U.S. Army Criminal Investigative Division.
Bryant is charged with distribution of cocaine and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He’s being held in the Stephens County jail.
The Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office is a multi-agency unit that consists of the following Sheriff’s Offices: White County, Lumpkin County, Towns County, Banks County, Habersham County, Stephens County, and Rabun County, along with the Georgia National Guard Counter Drug Task Force, the Department of Public Safety, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
