Sarabeth Gant, a senior at Habersham Central High School, has been named the school’s DAR Good Citizen. This award, sponsored by the Daughters of the American Revolution, is selected through faculty nominations and recognizes the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism at home, at school, and in the community.
Gant is currently in the top 10% of the senior class and is an Academic Letterman. She has been a member of the Band of Blue throughout high school and currently serves as a Section Leader and Drum Captain. Gant has consistently been named a Young Georgia Author winner, being named both a school system winner and district winner for the Pioneer RESA area. She is an active member of the First Baptist Church of Helen where she sings with the worship band and often plays percussion instruments. On occasion, she helps distribute food through the Bread of Life ministry and also assists with Vacation Bible School programs for youth.
Gant’s teachers describe her as a student who consistently demonstrates dependability, is exceptional in her academic work, displays a positive attitude, and provides leadership through example. HCHS Principal Jonathan Stribling said of her selection, “Sarabeth exemplifies intelligence, leadership, kindness, humility, and compassion. Sarabeth is the epitome of a ‘good citizen’ and an excellent ambassador for Habersham Central High School in her selection as DAR Good Citizen.”
Gant plans to pursue a degree in Language Arts education and hopes to follow in her mother’s footsteps as a member of the University of Georgia Redcoat Band.
She is the daughter of Jim and Angie Gant of Clarkesville.
