Reward offered in Stephens County camper fire

A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information on a recent camper fire in Stephens County that officials believe was intentionally set.

The blaze broke out around 11:06 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18, on Charles Hayes Road in Toccoa.

“The camper functioned as a primary dwelling,” says Bryce Rawson, special assistant to State Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire John King.

According to the State Fire Marshal’s Office, the fire completely destroyed the residence. The cause of the fire remains undetermined at this time.

State fire investigators are working with the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office and the Eastanollee Volunteer Fire Department on the investigation. Anyone with information on this fire should call the Georgia Arson Control Hotline at 1-800-252-5804.

In coordination with the State Fire Investigations Unit, a reward of up to $10,000 is offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for arson.
