Ray Hartwell Lancaster

Ray Hartwell Lancaster, age 77, of Pendergrass, Georgia went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 10, 2023.

Mr. Lancaster was born on June 12, 1946 in Hall County, Georgia, to the late David Jasper “DJ” Lancaster, Jr. and Alma Imogene Whitmire Lancaster. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Wayne Williams, and his niece and nephew, Lynn and Clint Poole.

Hartwell was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and had served as an Adult Sunday School Teacher for over 50 years combined together at the churches he attended throughout his life. Hartwell was currently employed with Steel Tech and had served in structural steel for 50 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Hartwell will be remembered for his great sense of humor, but most importantly, for his faith and dedication to Christ.

Survivors include his loving wife, Barbara Stells Lancaster, of Pendergrass; daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and Don Weir, of Lawrenceville; brother and sister-in-law, Dan and Brenda Lancaster, of Gainesville; sister, Betty Williams, of Gainesville; sister and brother-in-law, Beckie and John Latty, of Gainesville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, August 13, 2023, at Calvary Baptist Church, with Rev. Raymond Latty and Mr. John Latty officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery, where he will be laid to rest beside his parents.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m., Sunday, August 13, 2023, at the church prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church AWANA Program or to the Youth Fund, 1370 Calvary Church Road, Gainesville, Georgia 30507.
