A Lakeland, Florida man faces numerous charges after leading law enforcement on a motorcycle chase through two northeast Georgia counties.
The pursuit started in Rabun County. Deputies there called for backup from the Georgia State Patrol (GSP) around 5:30 Saturday afternoon. Troopers picked up the chase on US 441/GA 15 at the Clayton city limits.
The chase continued south into Habersham County and continued until it reached near Hollywood. That’s when the fleeing motorcyclist did something unusual. He pulled the 2015 Honda 600RR he was driving over to the shoulder of the road and surrendered, says GSP Sgt. Casey Coffee.
Officers took the driver into custody. Coffee identifies him as 46-year-old Robert Ewers. He’s charged with felony fleeing, speeding, failure to maintain lane, reckless driving, and failing to use turn signal.
