Burglary suspect in custody, another ‘still on the run’

Habersham County investigators have filed burglary charges against two men sought since May; one of those suspects is now in custody.

Police this week arrested 29-year-old Thomas Scott Hilland. He was picked up Monday in Hall County on a probation violation. Investigators charged Hilland and his alleged accomplice, Paul Dylan Gross, with one count each of first-degree burglary for a break-in on Dixon Drive.

On May 20, the sheriff’s office issued a lookout for the men, asking for the public’s help to find them. According to HCSO Major Murray Kogod, Gross is still on the run, and the BOLO is still active.

Gross is also wanted on outstanding warrants for fleeing and eluding officers, reckless driving, and obstruction. Other agencies also have active warrants against him.

“Hilland is not, at this time, a suspect in any other current investigations,” Kogod tells Now Habersham.

As of June 17, Hilland remained in the Habersham County jail. No bond has been set.

Anyone with information that might help officers find Paul Gross is asked to contact the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office at 706-839-0500. You may also contact investigators Oxner or Kushman directly at 706-839-0557.
