One of Northeast Georgia’s last remaining drive-thru COVID testing sites to close

As public health moves from COVID-19 response to recovery, the drive-thru testing site at Union General Hospital will permanently close on June 16. This testing location has been in operation since Winter 2022 as a partnership between District 2 Public Health, Union General Hospital, and LTS.

District 2 Public Health departments will continue to offer free at-home COVID-19 test kits and vaccines to the public. Visit any county health department to pick up a test or get up to date on your COVID-19 vaccinations.

District 2 public health departments are open as follows:

  • Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday – 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.;
  • Tuesday – 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.;
  • Friday – 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The health departments are closed for lunch from 12:30 to 1 p.m. daily.

Vaccines and at-home COVID-19 test kits are available during office hours. Everyone six months and older is now eligible to be fully vaccinated.

District 2 Public Health oversees public health departments in Banks, Dawson, Forsyth, Franklin, Habersham, Hall, Hart, Lumpkin, Rabun, Stephens, Towns, Union, and White counties.
