On Saturday morning, 33 Georgia Department of Transportation District 1—Hall County crew members packed their gear and convoyed south to Dublin, Georgia. They are assisting with cleanup efforts following Hurricane Helene.
“Our crews will remain down there until instructed otherwise,” GDOT says. “Helping our fellow Georgians is always our number one priority, ensuring roadway safety for all motorists.”
As of Sept. 30, numerous roads and state routes continue to open up with each passing hour.
The only state road that remains closed in Northeast Georgia is the Tallulah Gorge Scenic Loop in Habersham County. It remains closed in both directions due to trees down with power lines.
GDOT reminds motorists to remain vigilant, as debris can fall at any moment onto the roadway.
Cleanup efforts are expected to continue for the next several weeks. Transportation officials and county road departments ask drivers to slow down and use extreme caution when passing their workers on the road.
