The new White County Tax Commissioner Office is open and serving the public. The just-completed building is located on North Main Street in Cleveland past Ingles grocery store.
White County Tax Commissioner Cindy Cannon said they started serving the public from the new facility on Wednesday.
“The building should offer a great service to the taxpayers of the county,” Cannon told WRWH News. “We have fully ADA-accessible restrooms. We have an ADA-accessible desk. We have two drive-thrus to service the public to get them in as quick as possible.”
The office will maintain the same operating drive-thru and lobby hours.
The spacious new building has a conference/training room that will be used for tax sales, making it convenient for buyers to make payments, Cannon said.
White County broke ground on the 7,436-square-foot facility in February. At the time, commission chair Travis Turner said the county would use SPLOST money to pay for the $2.5 million building, which means the county will not incur any long-term debt.
Charles Black Construction of Cleveland oversaw the project.
