Judy Thompson Broome, age 69 of Mt. Airy, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2019.
Born on March 29, 1949 in Cornelia, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Stella Stephens Thompson. Mrs. Broome was a life-long resident of Habersham County and retired after a 43 year career as a LPN having spent the last 23 of those years with Northeast Georgia Medical Center. During this time, she worked with Oncology where she trained many aspiring nurses. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and was very active in Relay for Life, Challenged Child and Love Light at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Billy Thompson.
Survivors include husband of 49 years, Jack Broome of Mt. Airy; brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Janie Thompson of Cornelia; sister, Brenda Adams of Cornelia; sisters-in-law, Virginia Thompson of Cornelia, Bessie Brown of Mt. Airy and Linda Broome of Honea Path, South Carolina; brother-in-law, Reuben Dalton of Homer; special friend and caregiver, Lisa Hooper; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services are 2 pm on Monday, March 04, 2019 in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Kenneth McEntire and Bro. Kasey McEntire officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 pm on Sunday at the funeral home.
