Johnny Clifford Rush, age 88 of Clarkesville, passed away January 26, 2022, surrounded by family and friends. Born in Demorest, Georgia, on November 27, 1933, he was the son of Clifford Rush and Mary Canupp Rush.
Johnny was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from Scovill Manufacturing after 40 years of dedicated service. He then spent 11 years serving his community at Hillside Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. He was a member and deacon of Macedonia Baptist Church. He enjoyed traveling, playing golf, collecting antiques, restoring vintage clocks, and spending time with his family.
In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by his sisters and brothers in law, Francis Rush Raulerson (Jack) of Okeechobee, FL, and Alice Rush Jones (Waymon) of Demorest GA.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Hazel Waters Rush; daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Tommy Adams of Clarkesville, and daughter and son-in-law, Sherri and Jerry Gerrin of Clarkesville. Mr. Rush had three grandchildren, Amanda Adams Bryant (John) of Demorest, GA, Christopher Adams, of Corvallis OR, and Wesley Gerrin of Athens, GA. He had three great-grandchildren; Parker Bryant, Emma Kate Bryant, and Jackson Bryant. Also included in the family are numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Hillside Memorial Chapel with Reverend Ronnie Powell and Dr. Charles Holland officiating. Interment will follow the service at Hillside Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, January 28, 2022, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Those attending visitation and funeral services are requested to observe all social distancing guidelines provided by the Centers for Disease Control regarding Covid-19.
