The House select committee investigating the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol will hold its seventh public hearing on Tuesday, July 12. The hearing will focus on the role extremists played in the attack.

Appearing on CBS’ “Face the Nation” Sunday, Committee member Rep. Jamie Raskin said the upcoming hearing will “continue the story of Donald Trump’s attempt to overthrow the 2020 presidential election.”

The hearing is expected to include taped testimony from former White House counsel Pat Cipollone who spoke with committee members in a closed-door interview last week. Members of the committee have called Cipollone’s testimony “valuable” and Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) said it did not contradict previous testimony from other witnesses.

Cipollone was subpoenaed after former Trump White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson repeatedly mentioned him during testimony before the committee last month. The committee may also soon interview another significant figure in Trump’s world, Steve Bannon. The former campaign strategist and ultra-conservative talk show host over the weekend agreed to testify after Trump reportedly released him from executive privilege. Bannon previously defied a subpoena from the committee invoking executive privilege, but many legal experts contend he never had that privilege since he left the Trump White House years before the Jan. 6 attack.

Bannon’s offer to testify comes less than two weeks before his criminal contempt trial is set to begin on July 18. He’s due in court Monday for a hearing before U.S. District Court Judge Carl Nichols, who is weighing Bannon’s attempt to delay his trial until October.

Bannon has stated he wants to testify publicly, but committee member Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) says that’s unlikely given the hours-long deposition that’s likely to take place.

The next hearing is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 12, and may be viewed on all major network and cable news channels. The hearing will also be streamed live on the Jan. 6 committee website and YouTube channel.
