J.C. Marcus

J.C. Marcus, age 85 of Demorest, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 15, 2020.

Born in Clarkesville, Georgia on May 04, 1935, he was a son of the late George Martin Marcus & Drucilla Heaton Marcus. J.C. served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He also served two tours in the Vietnam War, was a purple heart recipient, and retired after 20 plus years of dedicated service. In his spare time, J.C. enjoyed helping others and was actively involved in a food ministry for many years carrying meals to countless people in the community. He was a member of Macedonia United Methodist Church and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Alice Ivester; brothers, George Marcus, Jr.; Henry Houston Marcus; Claude Henry Marcus; Charlie Lee Marcus; James Willie Marcus; Thomas Eugene Marcus; & G.W. Marcus.

Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Millison C. Marcus of Demorest, GA; daughters, Theresa Marcus Allen of Clarkesville, GA; Patricia Krug of Germany; grandchildren, Dr. Jason & Christina Allen of Decatur, GA; Kristy Allen of Clarkesville, GA; Justin Allen of Sanford, FL; Daniela Baecker, Jessica Schroder, & Svenja Baecker all of Germany; 8 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, & friends.

In consideration of public health and safety, a private family graveside service will be held Monday, May 18, 2020, at Yonah Memorial Gardens with Rev. Garvis Kinsey officiating.

Full military honors will be provided by the Grant Reeves V.F.W. Post #7720, Habersham County American Legion Post #84, & the Rabun County Disabled American Veteran’s Chapter #15.
