CLARKESVILLE — The Habersham County Board of Education will meet Monday, Oct. 6, at 6 p.m. to vote on personnel matters, financial items, and a final reading of its Internet Acceptable Use policy.
The board will also recognize winners of the Peach State Federal Credit Union “Extra Mile” and “Service Above Self” awards, which highlight employees who go above and beyond in supporting students and schools. At last month’s meeting, the board honored Habersham Ninth Grade Academy counselor Christy Keef with the “Extra Mile Award” for her compassionate support of students and recognized Clarkesville Elementary bookkeeper Cindy Richardson with the “Service Above Self Award” for her organizational leadership.
Monday’s agenda includes approving per diems for recent meetings and reviewing field trip requests. Superintendent Patrick Franklin will deliver his monthly report, and Finance Director Staci Newsome will provide an update on the system’s financial position.
In September, the board also voted to sell a small parcel of land near Clarkesville Elementary to the Georgia Department of Transportation to allow road and bridge work on Highway 115. Franklin called the project “a crucial priority” for student safety.
The Oct. 6 meeting will be held in the board room at the central office in Clarkesville.
