Habersham commission considers hiring interim manager

The Habersham County Board of Commissioners met in called session today to discuss the possible hiring of an interim county manager.

Now Habersham has learned commissioners are looking at possibly hiring former Flowery Branch City Manager Bill Andrew. Andrew resigned from his job in Flowery Branch in May after 15 years on the job.

Andrew is reportedly being considered to succeed outgoing Habersham County Manager Phil Sutton who also announced his resignation in May. Sutton is leaving for personal reasons. He will stay on the job through mid-July.

The hour-and-fifteen minute long meeting was mostly held in executive session because it involved personnel. County attorney Donnie Hunt explained that is to protect candidates who are interviewing for the job in case their current employers are not aware they’re job hunting.

Commissioners did not take any formal action and did not discuss any other business before or after the executive session. However, Commissioner Bruce Harkness did express his desire to discuss forming a water and sewer commission for the county.
