White County Animal Control will hold a free pet adoption event on Saturday, March 11, from 8 a.m. until 12 noon at Tractor Supply on South Main Street in Cleveland.
White County Public Safety spokesperson Bryce Barrett says adoption fees will be waived; spay, neuter, and rabies vouchers will be available for White County Residents only. Tractor Supply will give away some supplies and coupons with every adoption, while supplies last.
Animal control officer Brian Anthony says they’re picking up strays daily and that’s what prompted the free adoption event.
“Hopefully, we can clear some room in the shelters so we can continue to help the community,” he told WRWH Radio news.
White County Animal Services Operations Chief Sherrill Dockery says pet owners are calling the shelter wanting to surrender their dogs but says, “we don’t have a place to put them.”
There will be a variety of dogs available at Saturday’s adoption event, from small to large available for adoption. No cats will be at the adoption event and
Anthony says all the animals will have been vaccinated prior to the adoption.
