Hall County and Gainesville firefighters responded to a house fire Saturday afternoon, saving a pet dog from the blaze.
Firefighters arrived at about 4:30 p.m. at the 2100 block of Memorial Park Drive to find heavy fire coming from the back of the house and black smoke billowing from the roof. Crews quickly knocked down the main body of the fire and extinguished flames that extended into the attic and roofline.
“All of the occupants were accounted for, except for one pet dog,” says Hall County Fire Rescue Public Information Officer Kimberlie Ledsinger.
Firefighters found the dog inside the house, not breathing. They resuscitated the pet. Ledsinger says the dog was “alert and responding” when authorities left the scene.
The Hall County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
