More information is surfacing about Minelys Rodriguez, 25, of Cornelia who is missing and was last seen at Walmart on Tuesday, October 22 around 9:30 p.m.

Rodriguez was wearing a blue hoodie and white shorts. The last text her fiance, Julio Tovor, received was around that time as well. He had been texting her before he went to sleep.

The next morning, when Tovor woke up, she was not at home. He felt something was not right and called Ramirez to see if she had heard from Mimi.

“I am waiting for the brother to pick him up.” These were the last words on a text Tovor received from her.

“It didn’t make sense. She doesn’t talk like that,” Tovor added.

Her family is desperate for answers.

“Everybody calls her Mimi. My daughter moved here six years ago when Mt. Vernon Mills offered her a job while she was living in Puerto Rico,” Carmen Ramirez, mother of Minelys said.

Her outgoing personality drew people to her. Minelys has a daughter, age 9, who moved back to Puerto Rico to be with her father.

“Minelys talked about her daughter a lot. She treasured her daughter,” Tovor described.

Tovor confirmed that she was going to meet an acquaintance at Walmart to exchange a photo she had taken. A cashier at Walmart confirmed that Minelys came into Walmart that evening. Investigators are reviewing video from security cameras.

Her automobile was found on Hazel Creek Road, pulled over on the side of the road.

People in the vicinity said they saw a dark-colored SUV and a gold or yellow mini-van next to her car at some point.

Habersham County Sheriff’s Investigator Michael Mendenhall confirmed that “they are working very hard to find Minelys.” Authorities are aware of multiple cameras in the area and are in the process of obtaining as much footage as they can.

“At this point in time, she is listed as a missing person in our state and national databases. Our main goal is to locate her,” Investigator Mendenhall said. “We are working with the full cooperation of the family and plan to continue to do so. There are multiple leads from the public and we are following every one that comes in.”

The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office asks that the public keep up the vigilance and if something is seen, say something.
