Emma Kathryn Cody Marlowe, age 84 of Mt. Airy, passed away on Monday, March 26, 2018.
Born on October 25, 1933 in Mt. Airy, she was the daughter of the late John A. and Ellene Gastley Cody. Mrs. Marlowe was a member of Clarkesville First United Methodist Church and was a homemaker. She was formerly a popular substitute teacher with Habersham County School System. Mrs. Marlowe loved spending time with her family and entertaining friends. She also loved singing and listening to her grandchildren perform.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Marlowe was also preceded in death by a brother, James Cody and a caregiver, Rosemary Gicker.
Survivors include husband of 59 years, James H. Marlowe of Mt. Airy; son and daughter-in-law, Mike & Melody Marlowe of Clermont; son, Tim Marlowe of Lexington, South Carolina; granddaughter and spouse, Katie M. & Austin Coleman of Gainesville; grandson, Cody Marlowe of Clermont; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gene & Betty Cody of Lakeland, Florida, Doug & Sue Cody of Kennesaw, Jean Cody of Mt. Airy; a number of nieces and nephews; caregiver, Shelia Carson.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 am, Wednesday, March 28, 2018 in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart with Rev. Keith Cox and Rev. Benny Nix officiating.
Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.
