The photo was pulled from a security camera video taken at Walgreen’s Pharmacy inside the Fieldale Farms Family Health Center on Sunday, December 14. Baldwin Police Chief Chad Nichols says the suspect broke into the pharmacy around one o’clock Sunday afternoon. He tripped a security alarm. A representative from the security monitoring system watched the surveillance camera feed live as the crime unfolded and gave 911 dispatchers a play-by-play account of what was happening. Nichols says the security monitor described the suspect’s clothing and told 911 it appeared he was looking for controlled substances. The burglar was seen shoving drugs into a basket.

Nichols says officers arrived within two minutes but the suspect had already fled on foot. He says it appears the suspect acted alone noting, “That was the only person seen in the video.”

Officers from the Cornelia Police Department and a Habersham County K-9 unit were called in to assist in the search for the suspect. “The K-9 unit tracked him to a vacant construction lot near the pharmacy but he was already gone,” Nichols says. Officers did recover some pill bottles that were dropped by the suspect. Chief Nichols says the suspect got away with a “large amount” of narcotics.

Nichols advises the public to be on the lookout, “If anyone learns of anyone trying to get rid of large amounts of narcotics please contact us.” He asks anyone with information about the crime to please contact the Baldwin Police Department at 706-776-5256.
