A North Georgia man is facing charges after crashing his car on Interstate 85 in Franklin County Tuesday night, a news release from the Georgia State Patrol says. The wreck happened around 8:34 p.m. on June 18 near mile marker 160, southwest of Carnesville.

According to the State Patrol’s initial investigation, Larry Andrew Evans, 32, of Buford, was driving southbound in a Honda Civic when he failed to maintain his lane. The car ran off the east shoulder of the road. Troopers say Evans overcorrected; the car spun out and overturned multiple times.

State troopers say Evans was ejected from the car. Franklin County EMS transported him by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville with serious injuries.

The GSP news release states troopers suspect Evans was impaired, and that may have been a contributing factor in the crash. The agency says Evans will be charged with various traffic charges, including driving under the influence.

GSP says both southbound lanes of the interstate were shut down for approximately 40 minutes to complete the crash investigation and clear the roadway.
