Driver flees fiery crash on Pardue Mill Road

Authorities are investigating a single vehicle crash that happened early Saturday morning on Pardue Mill Road off of Highway 115.

The accident was reported to the Georgia State Patrol around 7:10 a.m.

Sgt. Casey Coffee with Patrol Post 7 in Toccoa says the vehicle was traveling eastbound in the area of 1457 Pardue Mill Road when the driver lost control in a curve. The 2002 Jeep Cherokee ran off the road and continued traveling east while sliding sideways. When the vehicle traveled back onto the road its wheels “gouged into the pavement” and caused the vehicle to overturn, says Coffee.

The vehicle came to a final rest on its top facing north. It caught fire and sustained extensive fire damage.

The driver left the scene of the crash.
