Driver charged with DUI, vehicular homicide in wreck on GA 17

A Gainesville driver faces charges of first-degree vehicular homicide and DUI in the Sunday evening traffic death of a White County woman.

60-year-old Glenn Corum was driving a Ford F150 pickup truck south on GA 17 near Fred Pitts Road in Habersham County when he wrecked around 5:50 p.m. on October 31. The truck ran onto the shoulder of the road, struck a driveway ditch, and overturned, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

A passenger in the truck, 51-year-old Lillie Ramsey of Cleveland, died as a result of the crash.

“During the investigation, the driver was found to be DUI,” says GSP Post 7 Assistant Commander Luke Mize. “He was transported to Habersham Medical and later released into custody.”

Troopers also charged Corum with failure to maintain lane. The State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is assisting with the investigation.

This is the second fatal accident in Habersham County since Friday, and the third fatal crash troopers with GSP Post 7 in Toccoa have worked in three days.
