Donnie Shaw, age 55 of Lula, passed away Monday, January 29, 2018, following a sudden illness.
Born in Habersham County on October 11, 1962, he was a son of the late William Merlin and Beulah Mae Shaw. Mr. Shaw was a 1979 graduate of Habersham Central High School and was employed in electronic sales with Wal-Mart. He was known as the “Computer Doctor” because of his skill in working on computers. Mr. Shaw was a United States Navy veteran who was stationed on the USS John F. Kennedy during the Gulf War (Desert Storm). In his spare time, he enjoyed music and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include brothers and sisters-in-law, Ricky C. and LaDon Shaw of Baldwin and Keith and Brenda Shaw of Mt. Airy; sister, Angela V. Hubbard of Homer; nephews and spouse, Eric and Hannah Shaw, Asa Hubbard and Ean Hubbard; niece and spouse, Amber and Jonah Tyre; numerous great nieces and nephews; special friends, Kayla and Jonathan Shadburn (Jaycie, Lily and Luke), of Cleveland.
Funeral services are 2 pm Thursday, February 1, 2018, at the Chapel of McGahee-Grififin & Stewart with Pastor Mike Franklin and Dr. Kenneth Franklin officiating.
Interment will follow in Baldwin City Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720, the American Legion Post #87, the Rabun County DAV Chapter #15 and the United States Navy.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.
