A routine traffic stop on Interstate 85 by a Franklin County Deputy turned out to be much more than a traffic ticket when the deputy decided there was more to the situation than first appeared.
Franklin County Sheriff Steve Thomas said during the course of the traffic stop, the deputy decided there was a reason to search the vehicle.
“On March 6, Deputy Jason Roach of the Sheriff’s Interdiction Unit stopped a vehicle traveling north on I-85 for a traffic violation. During the stop, a probable cause and consent search was performed on the vehicle,” said Thomas.
Thomas said the deputy’s suspicions were validated when he searched the vehicle.
“Inside the passenger compartment of the vehicle, deputies discovered six kilos of methamphetamine, or approximately 13.2 pounds. The street value of the six kilos is over $150,000. The passengers of the vehicle were arrested for trafficking methamphetamine,” said Thomas.
The two occupants, 19-year-old Sair Antonio Calderon Pacheco of Forest Park and 33-year-old Joiquen Reyes of Buford were arrested on trafficking methamphetamine charges and are being housed in the Franklin County Jail.
