The Cornelia Grant Reeves VFW Post 7720 Commander Barry Church announced recently that the local post was presenting a concert to benefit Wreaths Across America. The concert will be performed by Real Deal Country featuring Katie Deal and will take place on March 7.
During a recent podcast with Now Habersham, Barry Church and Katie Deal give details about what people can expect during the concert and the reason behind the event. Click here to listen to Now We’re Talking: Real Deal Country with Barry Church and Katie Deal.
For Church, Wreaths Across America is about recognizing and remembering veterans who paid for the freedoms that as Americans we all enjoy everyday.
Deal, who now lives in Virginia, is performing the concert as a means to give back to the community. All proceeds from the concert will go directly to benefit Wreaths Across America.

VFW participation
The VFW along with other local veterans organizations, have participated in the recognition of veterans in the community for the last three years. On the second Saturday of each December, they place wreaths on headstones at the VFW Memorial Park on Smith Loop Road in Demorest. Two years ago, the city of Demorest added the Demorest City Cemetery as part of the Wreaths Across America program.

December 2024 was the third year for the event for Church and the VFW. It has grown from just a couple of hundred wreaths being placed on graves to honor veterans in its first year to over 700 wreaths this last year. Church’s goal is to see a wreath on every veteran’s grave in Habersham County each December.
