Cold weekend, warmer air returns by Christmas

The weather will turn colder over the weekend in the wake of a major cold front.

Temperatures this weekend will run very chilly. Highs will reach only into the 40s for most of us with the mountains only reaching the upper-30s. Winds will fortunately die down making it a bit more bearable.

We will remain chilly for Monday before a rapid warm-up occurs on Christmas Eve. Santa will be able to shed some layers overnight Christmas Eve although he will be dealing with some clouds.

There is some uncertainty about the chance of rain on Christmas with some models keeping us dry until overnight and some moving some light showers into the region. A wedge of cooler air will almost certainly be built into the region regardless of rain chances keeping temperatures in the upper-40s or low-50s.

Post Christmas certainly does look damp.
