The City of Clarkesville today lifted its boil water advisory for the Timber Ridge subdivision. It was the only remaining area under the advisory following a series of water outages last week.
The advisory was issued as a precaution after a contractor for Atlanta Gas Light broke a water main twice in two days while laying pipe. City officials say Southern Pipeline was responsible for both outages on March 20 and 21.
The outages affected businesses and residents from the Highway 115 bridge to Eagles Nest subdivision and Rennie Hames Road off of Highway 17. They impacted Clarkesville Elementary School, too. The school system brought in bottled water, portable toilets and hand washing stations for students and staff to use.
