The Clarkesville Planning Commission will meet Tuesday afternoon to hear public comments on the annexation and zoning request for a proposed development on Rocky Branch Road near Hwy. 17.
According to Clarkesville Zoning Administrator Caleb Gaines, “Tonight’s meeting is not to approve any sort of development. It’s an annexation/rezone request. In order for a development to be voted on, the developer has to go through the preliminary plat procedure.”
Gaines adds, “The concept that was submitted is only a concept. Though that may be discussed, it cannot be voted on at this meeting or the council meeting next month.”
The property owner intends to develop 13.501 acres at 933 Rocky Branch Road for a mixed-use development golf cart community that will contain 80 units. The property is across from Piedmont Automotive, adjacent to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore.
The developer wants to connect to the city’s water and sewer infrastructure, which would require the developer to annex the property into the city.
The planning commission will consider the annexation request and zoning application at the public hearing on Tuesday, August 13. That meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. at Clarkesville City Hall located at 123 North Laurel Drive.
