The City of Clarkesville will host the 2017 Habersham County Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 9th at 5 p.m. The theme of this year’s parade is “A Storybook Christmas.”
Parade entries should depict a favorite Christmas story in their costumes and decorations. “We are very excited to see how parade entrants and downtown businesses incorporate this theme into their decorations,” says Clarkesville Main Street Manager Mary Beth Horton, .
Parade line-up will begin promptly at 4 p.m. at the new Habersham County Courthouse. The parade begins at 5 p.m. and will travel north on Washington Street into downtown. The parade will end at the old Habersham County Courthouse.
All businesses and organizations interested in participating in the parade are asked to register by December 1st. The entry fee is $10.
Registration forms are available at Clarkesville City Hall or online at www.clarkesvillega.com.
First, second and third place awards will be given to floats for “Best Depiction of Theme.”
Clarkesville’s signature holiday event, A Downtown Clarkesville Christmas, will kick off immediately following the parade. Events begin at 6 p.m. with the lighting of the Christmas tree, free photos with Santa, live entertainment and s’mores.
Woods Furniture Store in downtown Clarkesville will hold its annual Windows at Woods theatrical presentation at 6:30 p.m.
