
COLUMBUS, Miss. – Piedmont women’s soccer completed the Sunday sweep, picking up a late Sunday evening victory by a 3-0 margin at MUW.
After dispatching Millsaps 4-0 early in the day, the Lions made the trip to Columbus, Mississippi and shut out the Owls for a 3-0 win and a 2-1 Mississippi weekend road trip.
WIth the win, the Lions are now the first known NCAA soccer team to win two games on the same day.
It was a 3-1 week overall for the Lions, with all four contests coming on the road.
The win against MUW came in clinical fashion, with the Lions allowing just one single shot attempt by the Owls.
It did not take the Lions long to break through on the scoreboard in game two of the day, with sophomore Addi Banks finishing off a feed from fellow sophomore Madison Johnson.
Johnson herself was on the receiving end of an assist by Megan Gates for Piedmont’s second goal, coming in the 30th minute.
The second half saw the Lions continue to dominate, with freshman Addie Cissell scoring her second goal of the day, as she scored her first career goal in game one against Millsaps.
Senior Hannah Thompson earned the start and got the win in goal, making a save on the only shot she faced over the 90 minutes of game action.
Up next, the Lions will finally return home for their first CCS conference contest in Demorest, hosting Wesleyan this Wednesday, Octobrer 1 at 7 p.m.

– First half goals from Addi Banks and Madison Johnson shut the door on any thought the Owls had of pulling off the upset.
