MARY MCDONALD, age 87, of Clarkesville, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at Habersham Home East following an extended illness.
Mrs. McDonald was born in Clarkesville, Georgia to the late Joseph F. and Minnie Wall Chapman. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cleveland Franklin McDonald; sisters, Ruby Church, Ethel Webb, Ruth Reepe, Lois Heaton, and Florence Hames; brothers, Paul, Leonard, Ray, and Charles Chapman. She was a loyal and dedicated member of Hollywood Baptist Church for many years. She loved her Lord!! She loved to crochet and was an avid gardener. Mrs. McDonald was a very dedicated and loving Christian Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. She also served with the Habersham Department of Family and Children Services and retired as a real estate agent in Habersham County.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Virginia McDonald and David Abbot, Mt. Airy, GA.; daughters, Linda McDonald Just, Fall River, MA., and Sharon McDonald Richardson, Winston-Salem, NC.; sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Howard Davis, Hamilton, GA.; grandchildren and spouses, Stephanie and Robert Boik, Beth and Darren Parks, Matthew Abbot, Jennifer and Bryan Pendleton, Lauren and Dan Gallivan, Scott and Stacey Just, Stacey and Jeremy Oxendine, Marc and Stefanie Williams, 12 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Hollywood Baptist Church with Rev. Don Sample officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. to lie in state until the funeral hour. All family and friends should meet at the church by 1:45 p.m. Interment will follow in the Hollywood Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 5, 2014, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, GA.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hollywood Baptist Church Building Fund, 208 Hollywood Church Rd., Clarkesville, Georgia 30523.
