Spring has sprung! Who doesn’t love the warmth of the sun, the sound of birds chirping and beautiful flowers peeking from underneath the former hard, cold ground? Warmer weather is finally here, and it’s time to get outside and enjoy.
The Habersham Chamber of Commerce refers to our wonderful community as “Mother Nature’s Playground” because we are blessed with many recreational sites to explore like the Tallulah Gorge, Lake Russell, Lake Burton, the Soque River, and many city and state parks as well as other scenic and historic sites.
We all know that regular physical activity is good for our overall health and reduces our risk for many illnesses and diseases. And, if the thought of going to the gym doesn’t interest you, get out and explore the opportunities right here in Northeast Georgia. Trying different activities will help you get in shape and lose those extra pounds you may have gained during the winter months and may increase your chances of sticking to a regular exercise regime.
As part of the Habersham Archway initiative, local residents can visit www.gethealthyhabersham.com and find a list of local parks, hiking trails, gyms, sports leagues and more. So, in 2016 make it a goal to get out your walking shoes and enjoy the great outdoors in your own backyard. Just stepping outside may make you feel better!
