The Columbus Police Department is responding to social media reports that they “rejected” a missing persons report for Dennis Hall. A spokeswoman for CPD, Brittany Santiago said Mr. Hall was reported missing in Phenix City, and that’s the last place he was seen. Because of that, Phenix City Police is the proper agency to handle the case. We’re in close proximity, so our team has been in touch with their investigators and we’re assisting as needed. He is still listed as a missing person, and the case is active.

Only one report was created. Due to it being a missing person, that information is entered into a shared system that all law enforcement agencies (including CPD) can access. We did not “reject” anything. The report was taken by the agency with jurisdiction.
Phenix City police told Now Network News that there is no new information to report but investigators are looking into every new lead or piece of information that comes in.
