HALL COUNTY, Ga. — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting the Hall County Sheriff’s Office and Oakwood Police Department with a death investigation that began Sunday night.
Officials said both agencies requested the GBI’s assistance, but investigators have not released details about what happened or where the incident occurred.
WSB-TV reported neighbors said law enforcement officers surrounded a home on Couch Road near Flowery Branch for several hours Sunday evening. Video was also taken of multiple patrol units in the parking lot at Sam’s in Oakwood that same evening. It is unclear whether the incidents are related; however, the Hall County Sheriff’s Office did confirm the GBI is working on both.
Authorities have not released the identity of the person involved or said whether foul play is suspected.
“We can confirm that GBI was requested by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office and Oakwood Police Department to assist with a death investigation. As the case is active, no further information can be released at this time,” said GBI Public Affairs Specialist Jade Hensel.
