Candidates names submitted to Kemp for Mountain Judicial Circuit Superior Court

The Judicial Nominating Commission (JNC) has submitted two recommended candidates to fill vacancies within the Superior Court of the Mountain Judicial Circuit. These vacancies were created following the resignation of the Honorable B. Chan Caudell and the passing of the Honorable Russell William “Rusty” Smith.

The names of the recommended candidates will now be forwarded to Governor Brian Kemp, who will make the final appointment from the list provided by the JNC. The candidates submitted for consideration are:

  • B. Nichole Carswell – Currently serving as Juvenile Court Judge for the Mountain Judicial Circuit, Carswell also holds the position of Presiding Judge for the Mountain Judicial Circuit Family Dependency Treatment Court.
  • Carlton H. “Hobie” Jones, III – The current Probate Judge for Rabun County, Jones brings extensive experience in the judicial system.

Governor Kemp will review the recommendations before selecting the new appointees to fill the vacancies on the Superior Court bench.
