The Stephens County Board of Education has named Jennifer King the next principal of Big A Elementary School in Toccoa. The board approved King’s hiring at a board meeting on March 19.
The longtime White County educator will assume the role when Regina Bayles, the current principal, retires at the end of this school year after 34 years of service.
“Bayles has served Big A Elementary and our School System well and will be deeply missed,” says Stephens County School Superintendent Dr. Connie Franklin.
Bayles served as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal during her tenure.
“We are forever grateful for her excellent leadership and service to Big A Elementary School,” says Franklin.
King brings depth of experience to new role
King joins the Stephens County School District after serving 23 years with the White County School System. During that time, she served as the director of Student Accountability and Elementary Curriculum, principal of Mossy Creek Elementary, and assistant principal at Mossy Creek and Mount Yonah elementary schools. King also served as a gifted resource teacher for grades 1-5 and a first and second-grade teacher.
“I am thrilled and honored to be recommended to join the Big A family as its new principal,” says King. “My hope is that the students and staff will feel loved and respected by me. It is my utmost priority to maintain and enhance the school’s welcoming atmosphere.”
Franklin says King is “highly respected among her peers,” and the Stephens County School System is excited to welcome her to her new job.
King will assume her duties as principal at Big A Elementary School on July 1.
