Hi there! I’m Tina, a friendly Labrador mix, and I’ve had quite the journey. I started at the Habersham County Animal Shelter in 2016 after being found as a stray. I was adopted after about a week.
Life was good until recently. I wound up at the Toccoa-Stephen’s shelter when someone was caught tying me to the shelter fence after hours, claiming they “found” me.
TCS Staff scanned me and found my microchip. They weren’t able to make contact with my registered owner, but they did see that I was adopted from HCACC, so they reached out to them. Of course, my friends at Habersham took me back in. They were also unable to do anything with the information on my chip; all the numbers had been discontinued. I’ve been patiently waiting for a loving home ever since.
They say it’s not nice to ask a woman her age or weight, but I’ll proudly tell you I’m 7 or 8 years old and weigh 48 pounds. Despite my age, I’m full of love and energy. I’m gentle, easygoing, and a real sweetheart.
A few other things about me you should know: Walking with me is a breeze; I’m an easy walker and enjoy our outdoor adventures. I adore kids of all ages and have this “momma dog” side that comes out when I’m around them. In playgroups, I’m like the peacekeeper – making sure everyone gets along and doesn’t get too wild. Sometimes the ruff and tumble dogs call me the “Hall Monitor.”
Socially, I’ve got quite the knack for doggy communication. I use body language and “words” to connect with my fellow canine friends. If there’s a new dog in the yard, I keep a close eye on the situation to ensure everyone feels comfortable and safe.
I’d like to think I’m a pretty good judge of doggy character too.
Sometimes certain other dogs, when coming into playgroup, need to be watched extra, and when the people see me watching a dog and not instigating play, they know to watch that one for picking on others!
Some say I’m a ‘diplomat among dogs,’ but what I really want is to be among family.
I’m looking for a loving home with a family that will cherish me as I am. I’d love a family who enjoys spending time outdoors and going for walks. Whether you have kids or other dogs, I’m ready to be your loyal companion. My heart is open, and I can’t wait to find my forever family.
