GBI investigating child’s death in Toccoa

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting the Toccoa Police Department in its probe into the recent death of a young boy.

According to GBI Region 8 Special Agent in Charge Kim Williams, state investigators were asked to assist police with the death investigation Monday evening, January 30.

“At approximately 7:15 p.m., Stephens County 911 received a call regarding an unresponsive child at a home in the area of Riley Street in Toccoa, Georgia. The child ultimately was pronounced deceased at the hospital,” Williams tells Now Habersham.

The GBI is not releasing any other information, including the boy’s age or details of how he died.

Williams says the investigation is ongoing, and an autopsy is pending.
