COVID is surging and so is the flu. The Georgia Department of Public Health says Georgia flu activity is “very high.” On a scale of 1-13 (with 13 being the highest), the state is now at a 12, according to DPH.
Activity levels are based on the percent of outpatient visits in Georgia due to influenza-like illness during a given timeframe. The latest data is from week 52 (Dec. 25-31, 2021).
Week 52 GA flu data:
Percentage of outpatient visits for flu-like illness: 8.1%
Influenza-associated deaths: 0
Metro Atlanta flu hospitalizations: 7
Reported flu outbreaks: 1
According to public health officials, getting the flu shot is the best thing you can do to protect yourself and others. Public health departments have flu vaccines available. Contact your local health department for more information.
