The Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Banks County Sheriff’s Office are investigating an armed bank robbery in Homer.
The crime occurred at MyGeorgia Credit Union on Evans Street. The suspects fled the scene before law enforcement arrived.
“We are actively still interviewing witnesses and processing evidence,” the sheriff’s office says. “Once we confirm pertinent information, we will present [more information] to the public for assistance.”
Officials say no one was injured in the holdup.
MyGeorgia Credit Union issued a statement on its company website saying its Homer office will be closed on Thursday, July 8. It will reopen for drive-thru only service on July 9. The Member Appreciation event originally scheduled for Friday at that location will be rescheduled.
