HCHS graduation set for 8 p.m. Friday, May 22 at Raider Stadium

385 students are set to graduate this year from Habersham Central High School and the Habersham Success Academy. Graduation is scheduled for the last day of school, Friday, May 22 at 8 p.m. at Raider Stadium in Mt. Airy. Final preparations for the big day are now underway and the school has issued the following guide for graduating seniors and their families.

HCHS Graduation Information 2015

Important Dates / Times

  • Senior honors day and cookout will be held on Friday, May 15, 2015.  Seniors will also receive yearbooks and t-shirts, and be notified of any outstanding debt on this day.
  • The 2015 Baccalaureate service will be held at The HCHS Performing Arts Building on Sunday, May 17 at 3:00 PM.  This is an optional inspirational service to honor the Class of 2015.  Seniors who wish to attend should arrive in cap & gown by 2:30 PM.
  • Seniors will have graduation practice beginning at 8:00 AM on Thursday and Friday (May 21 & May 22).  Seniors should park in the front parking lot of Habersham 9th Grade Academy (NGA) for both practice days and walk across to the HCHS auditorium.
  • Seniors should bring their caps & gowns with them to graduation practice on Thursday, May 21 in order to have the class picture taken.  Class pictures may be purchased through Life Touch  Photography. Recorded DVDs of the graduation ceremony will also be available for purchase through Larry Snyder Productions.
  • Graduation will be held on Friday May 22, 2015 in Raider Stadium at 8:00 PM.  Seniors should arrive in cap & gown and meet in the HCHS auditorium at 7:00 PM for roll call.
  • Every attempt will be made to have an outdoor graduation.  In the event of inclement weather, graduation may be postponed until Saturday morning (May 23) at 9:00 AM.

Parking / Graduation Set-up

  • HCHS stadium gates will be locked until 5:00 PM on Friday, May 22.  There will be no reserved seating.
  • Camp Creek Road will be closed to traffic from Demorest/Mt. Airy Hwy. to the intersection of Camp Creek and 197 from 6:00 PM – 12:00 AM on May 22.  Those attending graduation should enter NGA or HCHS parking lots from 197.
  • Handicapped parking will be provided in the front circle parking lot at NGA and near the visitors’ side entrance of the stadium.  Handicapped seating will be provided on both sides of the stadium at the top of the bleachers.
  • Golf cart shuttles will be provided to those needing assistance.
  • Both sides of the stadium will be open for seating.  Graduates will sit in the middle of the field facing the John Larry Black field house/gymnasium.

Dress Code for Graduates

Graduation is a dignified ceremony and the appropriate dress code applies:

  • Males:
    • Navy, black, or khaki pants (no shorts).
    • Shirts with a collar, preferably with a tie.
    • Dress shoes, (no sandals, flip-flops, or tennis shoes).
    • Shoes must be worn throughout the entire ceremony.
    • No sunglasses.
  • Females:
    • Sunday dress/skirt or nice capris.
    • Clothing should not show below the graduation gown.
    • Dress shoes or dress sandals (no flip-flops or tennis shoes).
    • Shoes should be comfortable and safe enough to walk across the road, around the track, and across the field.
    • Shoes must be worn throughout the entire ceremony.
    • No sunglasses.
