Habersham County will join with communities nationwide Thursday to observe the National Day of Prayer. A non-denominationl, community-wide prayer breakfast will be held at Habersham EMC on Hwy. 115 in Clarkesville from 7-8 a.m.
About the speaker

Bailey is the former National Director for Crown Financial Ministries, he assisted Andy Stanley in the start of North Point Community Church in Alpharetta and since 2004 has served as President and founder of Wisdom Hunters, a ministry that seeks to connect people to Christ through devotional writing. Wisdom Hunters has over 105,000 daily email readers.
Linda Henry is one of the organizers of Thursday’s event. “We’re just so fortunate to have him come to our community,” Henry says of Bailey. “It’s going to be an uplifting and inspirational morning.”
About National Day of Prayer
This is the sixth year Habersham County has held a National Day of Prayer breakfast. Henry stresses the event is not a fundraiser. Tickets cover the cost of the program and meal. She says it’s a time to fellowship and come together in unity to pray for our local, state and national leaders. She adds, “I think it is important for our community and country to come together on one day to pray.”
In addition to the prayer breakfast, churches in Habersham will open their doors during the day for people to visit and pray.
The National Day of Prayer began in 1952 under President Harry Truman. For thirty-six years the president was required to select a day for national prayer each year. In 1988 President Ronald Reagan signed a bill into law fixing the observance date to the first Thursday in May.
Tickets for Thursday’s community prayer breakfast are still available. See the flyer below for reservation details.
