Local attorney, businessman, and State Senate candidate Bo Hatchett helped facilitate the recent donation of protective gear to healthcare professionals at hospitals in Northeast Georgia.
Hatchett says he was motivated to act after speaking with medical professionals who expressed concern about the lack of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) available to them.
Hatchett reached out to Shaun Brautigan of Gasket Guy and Restaurant Dynamics after hearing how his companies had saved hundreds of jobs by retooling their factory to mass-produce surgical shields and other protective equipment.
“I reached out to Shaun to see if he’d be willing to donate to Habersham Medical Center and other medical facilities in the district,” says Hatchett. After having several conversations and assessing the needs of healthcare facilities in the region, Brautigan and Hatchett delivered 1,000 face shields to Habersham Medical Center last week.
Brautigan also has committed to donating up to 100,000 face shields to hospitals and facilities in need.
In addition to face shields, the company manufactures masks, partitions, and antimicrobial spray for HVAC equipment that kills the virus, according to Brautigan.
“We are making products to help fight the virus while keeping and creating local jobs,” he says. “Our connection with Bo seems like a natural fit, and he has been instrumental in our contributions to the medical community.”
Hatchett is one of six Republican candidates running for the 50th District State Senate seat being vacated by Sen. John Wilkinson. There is also one Democrat in the race.
