Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School performing arts students recently had the unique opportunity to learn from a former Rockette and Broadway actress.

Chryssie Whitehead gave a musical theatre master class to Rabun Gap students on Saturday, January 19. She has built an impressive resume as an actress and performer, starting her career as a Rockette and later starring on Broadway, in film, and on television. Whitehead has extensive experience in show business, performing with many well-known celebrities including Neil Patrick Harris. One of Whitehead’s passions is hosting master classes for young, aspiring performers.

The event was free and any Rabun Gap Middle School or Upper School students were invited to attend. Dozens of students responded to the invitation and joined Whitehead as she coached them through performance techniques and other advice for musical theatre. The students participated on the Rearden Theater stage, responding easily to Whitehead’s enthusiastic and encouraging direction as they sang and danced to A Chorus Line’s “Hello Twelve, Hello Thirteen, Hello Love.”

Rabun Gap’s dance instructor Heidi Spoon organized the event. “It was an incredible day filled with positive energy,” she said. “Chryssie is a great inspiration!”
