The names of three lucky winners were drawn Tuesday from among the entries in Habersham’s Be a Tourist in Your Own Town contest. Habersham Chamber President Mary Beth Horton drew and announced the winners during a live stream on Facebook.
And the winners are…
Melanie Price, winner of the City of Clarkesville gift basket; Kav Stapleton, winner of the Tallulah Falls gift basket; and Bailey Brackett, winner of the City of Cornelia gift basket. Each prize package is valued at $700.
The contest ran from May 5-11. Contestants obtained free ‘passports’ that they took to area businesses and attractions to get stamped. They also submitted selfies from designated spots from throughout the county. To be eligible for the prize drawing contestants had to visit at least 15 of the locations on the passport map.
Horton says it was “awesome” seeing contestants’ selfies and watching their adventures through the week.
“I hope that this contest ignited a newfound appreciation for everything that we have in Habersham County because you guys are our biggest spokespeople, so, go out and spread the word that it really is happening in Habersham County,” she said.
If you missed out on the contest this year, you’ll have another chance. Horton says the Chamber plans to sponsor the Be a Tourist in Your Own Town contest again next year.
