Cornelia’s Christmas in the Park Dec. 14-16

Santa Claus was the star attraction. Kids stood in line with their parents waiting for a chance to meet the big man in red.

Cornelia is set to play holiday host to thousands during its three-night Christmas in the Park celebration beginning tonight.

The annual event will be held at the Cornelia Community House and Cornelia City Park from Thursday, December 14 through Saturday, December 16. It will be open nightly from 5-10 p.m.

Just like previous Christmas celebrations in Clarkesville and Demorest, the weather won’t stop the celebrating. “We are still on schedule,” says Cornelia’s Community Development Manager Jessie Owensby. “We will do it rain, snow or shine!”

Christmas in the Park activities

Christmas in the Park will feature ice skating, hayrides, food, and s’mores from 5-10 p.m. nightly.

Visits with Santa, an arts & crafts holiday market, and live entertainment will take place from 6-9 p.m. nightly. Local photographer J. Colby Moore will take pictures with Santa. He’s offering a free download with option to purchase for all visitors. Premiere Dance Academy will do a recital on Thursday. On Friday, they’ll do a dance-a- thon to raise money to improve their building’s façade. On Saturday, they host a womanless beauty pageant.

Admission to Christmas in the Park, visits with Santa and live entertainment are free. Hayrides and s’mores are $1 each, ice skating is $5, food vendor and Holiday Market prices vary.
