Truett baseball’s record breaking season comes to a close

The Truett McConnell baseball team fell at the hands of third-seeded Huntington (Ind.), 11-6, to bring a record breaking season to an end Wednesday afternoon.

The Bears finished the season at 33-28 overall and finished in third place at the Montgomery Bracket.

The Foresters took a 4-0 lead in the fourth inning, but, as TMU has done all week, they answered with a run in the fifth on a RBI single from Patrick Overstreet.

After another two runs by HU, the Bears made it interesting in the eighth, scoring four runs in the inning, The first two came on a RBI single from Chris Carden before Overstreet blasted a two-run homer to make it a 6-5 game.

The Foresters had more in them, though, putting five runs on the board in the bottom of the eighth. TMU got a solo homer by Evan Bensch in the ninth to get to the final score.

The Bears broke multiple records this season, including wins in a single season with 33. The team also became the first team to qualify for an NAIA National Tournament in TMU history and the first team to win a game at the national tournament.
