The Tallulah Falls boys basketball team had three region victories this week to remain undefeated at nine wins against no losses including four region wins.
The Indians defeated a previously undefeated Towns County by a score of 84-73 behind the strong play of several Indians, led by Michael Van Hooser’s 24 points and the strong defense of guards Michael Weidner and Sanson Navarrete.
On Friday night, a 3-3 Hebron Christian Academy team from Dacula came to Tallulah and was soundly defeated 82-58 behind the record-setting performance of Josey Keene, who had 37 points on a night when he broke the Tallulah Falls School career scoring record. Josey had a career night including dunks, 3-point baskets and jump shots, and was outstanding on defense as well.
On Saturday night, the Indians had a great night as a team defensively in a victory over Lilburn’s Providence Christian Academy by a score 71-36. The Indians jumped to a 24-0 lead at the end of the 1st quarter and led 36-0 before allowing the visitors to score. Coach Jim Van Hooser said “that was one of the most impressive team defensive efforts I have ever seen.” The Indians had a balanced scoring attack as the bench played the final two quarters of the game after leading 49-9 at halftime.
TFS is off until Friday this week due to final exams when they will play Region opponent Riverside Military Academy.
